Air Quality

Air Quality: We will be following US Soccer regarding play and practices during potential air quality issues. The guidance uses airnow.gov to determine the AQI (Air Quality Index). The AQI is to be ready 1hr before practices/games.

AQI over 200: canceled/postponed

AQI over 180: cancel/postpone unless onsite medical team available (meaning we cancel)

AQI over 150: hydration breaks every 15 minutes with frequent subbing. Closely monitor all participants for shortage of breath. Any children with pre-existing health conditions should not play. Parents/Coaches should make individual choices on a case-by-case basis on which players should not participate. O2 should be onsite for each team to use, where available.

AQI over 100: hydration breaks every 15 minutes, and players with underlying health conditions should use caution.

Heat

Extreme Temperature Conditions: We will be following the guidance provided to us by US Soccer regarding play and practices during extreme temperature conditions.  The guidance utilizes heat and humidity to calculate WetBulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) which is a measure of heat stress in direct sunlight.  A copy of the USSF guidance is posted on our Facebook page and can be found if you click on Files.
    • We will postpone, limit or cancel activities if the WBGT is 89.8 or greater following the chart provided in the USSF guidance.  Notification will be made on Facebook. Coaches will be responsible for notifying their team.

      • For cancellations, coaches can reschedule amongst themselves and notify the league for the posting of new game date/time

    • If the WBGT is 87.8 or greater, play may occur on the Coaches judgment with modifications (such as shorter time of play, longer breaks, additional water breaks as needed).

    • If the WBGT is 85.8 or greater, play may occur but no double headers will be allowed.  Games and practices will still occur on the Coaches judgment with modifications (such as shorter time of play, longer breaks, additional water breaks as needed).

Storms

Thunder/Lightning: If thunder is heard or lightning is seen by a coach, game referee or league official play and or practice will be halted and all players must leave the play area.  30 minutes must pass without lightning or thunder before players will be allowed back onto the fields.  Parents will not be allowed to take their children aside and kick the ball around with them in the field area.
